South Normanton is a developing urban, ex-mining community which has undergone expansion and major re-development in recent years.
The village of
South Normanton and the recent housing development of
Broadmeadows is set approx 2 miles east of
Alfreton, Derbyshire on the B6019.
The commerical output was traditionally agriculture, stocking, spinning and coal mining but now the area is home to a range of industries and particulary distribution, manufacturing and is also home to the East Midlands Designer Outlet.

One of the areas best kept secrets is the beautiful
Alfreton Park.
A vast expanse of tranquil and peaceful wood and open parkland, superb for short walks. Alfreton Park features seated areas, ideal for picnics or watching the local cricket team play too.
At the top of
Alfreton Park is historic
Alfreton Hall currently utilised as a popular weddings and conference venue.
Carnfield Hall is set on the edge of South Normanton village is also a notable historic house featuring a fine collection of antique furniture, porcelain, glass and family heirlooms too. Occupied as a family home it is sometimes open to the public and features occassional.
East Midlands Designer Outlet (Previously McAthur Glen Retail Park) has hundreds of shoppers visiting every day of the week and is one of the East Midlands most notable retail parks for family's - featuring free, out of town parking, catering and leading brand name and designer wear, it is highly accessible and close to Junction 28 on the M1 motorway.
